Subaru Ascent Cabin Filter Change
I bought the filter a few months ago and finally got around to swapping it out. I think it might have been replaced at the 30,000 mile service but I never checked it. This Cabin Filter has activated charcoal which should help remove gases and odors from entering.
Here is a link to the filter on Amazon

      When this was recorded I could not find any large Ego batteries in store or online only the 2ah batteries were available. They are easy to get today and I would still be using my Ego mower if I could have purchased a new battery. Saying that it did make me back off on expanding into the Ego tool lineup as there are no real alternatives compared to the 18v lineup where adapters can be used.

      Are talking about the batteries or the mower? With the batteries I have adapters to use Ridgid batteries in the makita mower and while the battery lid doesn't shut I have been using some 12ah batteries. If you want the lid to shut you can use 6ah batteries. Also with the 12ah batteries the mower seems to have more power but I'm not sure how to measure the power it can output.

  • @dereklatshaw3017
    @dereklatshaw3017 2 місяці тому

    The entire reason I didn't go with Ego was the lack of a side discharge. I have no idea what mowing is like elsewhere, but spring in the northeast has me mowing every 4-5 days and mulching isn't even close to an option due to the thickness of the grass. I bought the XLM08 at the beginning of 2021 and am almost 3.5 years in. It's 40-45 minutes continuous per week and the 4-5AH batteries that came along get me through that (USUALLY). Once summer hits they easily do, two batteries will get me close if it's really dry. It is used hard on my bumpy yard and has been a beast. Works as good as the day I got it. Mower's are always advertised by volts, but one thing people don't take into account that Output(Watts) is determined by Volts X Amps. The Makita can pull the amps to make up for the lack of volts and does, hence the reason I can blow through 20AH worth of battery on heavy, wet days, but it will do it. My only complaint was the side discharge chute was too narrow and angled down too hard. I removed the mulching plug entirely from the side. Now I can mow literally anything and it even helped battery life out a little I think not having to constantly mulch grass even with the discharge shoot in place. My dad just bought a Ryobi 40v 21" that has probably the best side discharge I've seen on a new mower, same deal, literally skipped the EGO because of the lack of side discharge.

    • @Nemesis099
      @Nemesis099 2 місяці тому

      I typically mulch but I love the fact it can plow through deep grass. Also I bought some 12ah Ridgid batteries and adapters and it sounded like it could pull even more power!

    • @dereklatshaw3017
      @dereklatshaw3017 2 місяці тому

      @@Nemesis099 If I had grass that would mulch I would, and in summer I probably do, but it's hopeless in spring and that's true with any mower I've ever used on this property. I had gone through 3 mowers in about 12 years and decided that while the Makita was a bit cumbersome and maybe not the best value, it seemed like the one that could be doing the job 10 years later, and like you said, battery options are always going to exist for this platform. 3.5 years in, 10 years seems very doable. It works like new.

    Everyone who loves Makita's very heavy and easy to bog down mowers, also own a lot of Makita tools. Just like the very heavy DeWalt electric steel body mowers...the majority of those buyers also have DeWalt tools....and their electric mower is also very heavy. Sounds like the only downside to your perfectly ok Ego electric mower was years ago, trying to purchase large batteries. That was true during covid for most all things in the US. Now in 2024, if you still have that Ego mower, you can easily get a 7 or 10amp battery quickly, plunk it in your Ego and you now have a brand new super lite and powerful mower! ha

For my drills, grinders etc. i have 18v 5Ah batteries. I had a stiga mower (don't know if they sell garden equipment in the us) and leafblower with expensive batteries, who died after about 4 years. I could throw away the mower and the leafblower because they didn't sell that type of battery anymore! Makita however still makes equipment for these 18v batteries.

    1:46 Why return a slightly dented microwave? I've dropped a microwave before, and it got beat up, but it still worked as good as new. Microwaves tend to be tough unless you intentionally break them, or they wear out (like your old one did). So, why would you let something like that go to the landfill? Just curious.

    • @Nemesis099
      @Nemesis099 3 місяці тому

      Three reasons, it was broken upon opening the box and I paid full price. Best Buy probably sold it as a scratch and dent item. Second is the microwave sits on the counter with that side facing out so it would be highly visible. Last reason is if it had any issues while under warranty LG would not have accepted a warranty claim because it was damaged and claimed it was negligent use and not their fault.

  • @wilsonline90
    @wilsonline90 3 місяці тому

    Yes, many times the batteries are only available online as those are expensive items. And the way they do it is that it's actually cheaper to buy another tool with a battery. It literally comes out cheaper to get a tool with a battery than the battery alone. But no, the batteries have not been out of stock and are not leaving the market. That speculation is nonsense. Right now you can get a very strong blower (765 cfm) for $299 and it comes with 2 batteries ( 5 ah + 2.5 ah). And yes, you can find this deal in stores. Just have to look around and check prices. That Makita mower looks good, probably even better than the basic Ego idk. But I don't like the fact that it's really hard to get the blades. I'm currently using the Milwaukee and kind has similar issue. Not a lot of options for blades, Ego is much better in that department. And I do miss the dual-blade system from Ego. The new aluminum deck 22 inch Ego should be amazing, but cost a little fortune lol. 1199. And the battery will degrade with time and use, it's just normal wear. Happens to all batteries. Actually it's one big issue to be considered when using battery equipment and their cost.

    • @Nemesis099
      @Nemesis099 3 місяці тому

      I agree today it is easy to get Ego batteries at the store, but when I went to look they were nearly impossible to buy and I wasn't sure if that was going to change. Although I was also surprised that the battery was not lasting nearly as long I liked the lawnmower and was more than willing to get another battery. Never thought about how hard it might be to get replacement blades for the Makita mower although they tend to last years as long I don't hit something hard and really damage the blade. One thing I like about the 2x18v mower is I already have a bunch of batteries for other tools and those batteries go on sale more frequently as separate items. I've also thrown in some larger 12ah batteries and the mower seemed to have more power. I really debated on the Milwaukee but it was just released and it was difficult to think about spending another 200-300. Although I think the Milwaukee is a better mower in a lot of ways.

Only way to get a new battery was a new lawn mower from Ego at that time. I still like the fact I can easily get 18v batteries for the Makita and even use adapters with my Ridgid batteries. Much easier to get and I already have a bunch of them. Not that he Ego wasn't a good mower just a circumstance at that time when I needed a new one.
